The alchemy of fresh and fantastic flour tortillas, abuelita’s recipes and slick app ordering efficiencies is so good Salinas can’t contain it. That there are lines out the door before 11am is not news to the legion of El Charrito lovers who live among us. But the fact that El Charrito is adding an upscale sibling spot in the heart of downtown Monterey (in the former Lallapalooza on Alvarado Street) – with daytime burrito shop service – might be the most welcome food news of 2021’s summer.
