Maybe if Passionfish could stick with a position, it would sweep all the awards. But the fish menu can change depending upon the catch. Other items come and go from the menu according to season. Wishy-washy? Not a bit of it. The kitchen’s confidence is evident, not only when it comes to seafood (Passionfish’s forte), but also in items like the spoonable lamb breast so tender you can actually eat it with a spoon (campaign promise kept) and black bean-goat cheese fritters so earthy yet delicate they will have you on the fence, not knowing whether to vote Best in Monterey County or Best in P.G. How about both?
