Stepping into Sur House at Ventana Big Sur is like a new frontier. There’s a casual feel about the place and a rustic quality, with a garden on the property and ingredients that change with the season. But there’s caviar. And an exquisite tasting menu by Chef Keith Potter that could include lobster étouffée. Hey, moderation in pursuit of fine dining is no virtue. And it doesn’t hurt that the restaurant has stunning and expansive views of the Pacific.
