Whatever caused the famous George H.W. Bush incident at the home of Japan’s prime minister, it wasn’t sushi from Crystal Fish. Chef Tamotsu Suzuki and his team turn out the finest nigiri, maki and sashimi in Monterey County. They also prepare teriyaki, udon and other traditional dishes. But they know how to play as well, turning out creative rolls, interesting starters (mussel shooters are a good start) and some great fried chicken. If Crystal Fish had been serving at the banquet, the incident never would have happened and Bush may have won re-election. That’s food for thought.
