Everything is more fun in neon, including a spin class. Or restorative yoga. Or zumba. Or sliding down the county’s most epic water slide. Neon is not required to have a good and productive time at the Monterey Sports Center, however. A varied lineup of classes for all fitness levels, well-stocked weight room, spacious stretching area, basketball courts, saunas and, yes, the epic water slide, all combine to make you feel good about yourself just for showing up here. The workout part helps, but there’s also a snack bar and a comfortable lobby with free Wi-Fi in case you decide to skip the breaking-a-sweat part. That’s better than an ’80s racquetball court.
