Monterey Community Acupuncture – Sharon Featherstone

437 Figueroa St., Suite 101, Monterey (831) 657-9937, montereycommunityacupuncture.com

In the 1980s, there was a lot of cross-cultural exchange (and competition) between the West and the East – cars, electronics, food, and traditional medicines. The Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine was established in 1982, and acupuncture began to be popular in the United States in that decade. Featherstone studied at the Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, has been practicing Chinese medicine and acupuncture for 14 years, and opened Monterey Community Acupuncture in 2012 where she offers different styles of acupuncture (on a sliding scale) as well as relaxation and therapy services. It seems like a contradiction, but she promises (as do centuries’ worth of history) that being pierced with a bunch of needles is a very relaxing experience.
