The People v. Dan Dawson
One of the most striking aspects of the Dan Dawson saga is that he is being criminally charged for something he allegedly did after he was run out of town (err, resigned) as city manager of Del Rey Oaks. To put it lightly, things got bad in Del Rey Oaks City Hall – allegedly, threats and tantrums, among other things – and the only other non-law enforcement employees working there were granted a temporary restraining order against the city’s top staffer after he was forced out. Then, when he was no longer acting as city manager, he allegedly tried to swing water credits to an undeveloped property he owns in the city, and now has to answer to a felony conflict-of-interest charge in court.
