Big Sur
This is a self-explanatory win that anyone who has been to Big Sur will understand. Breathtaking ocean views combined with staggering roadside mountains make this destination one of the most beautiful – not just in Monterey County, but in the whole country. It’s a famous, world-class drive down Highway 1 (more famous since HBO’s Big Little Lies featured Big Sur, even if their characters called it Monterey). Just watch out for tourists – they’re all pulling off the road to take a selfie, too.
