Indie band Death Cab for Cutie would like listeners to think its a metaphor for Jack Kerouac in their song with the same name. Paul Verhoeven, director of Basic Instinct, would like to fool people into thinking that it’s just a little north of San Francisco. Whatever it means in pop culture, its impressive arches make it a regular pitstop for locals and tourists. Maybe one day, it will inspire bridges on the moon.
