There’s an old cliché in the music business that goes, “Those who can play, do. Those who can’t, teach.” Nowhere is this dictum less true than in the life’s work of multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, composer and educator Dennis Murphy, who founded his namesake school of music in 2011 during a decorated career which has included three Grammy nominations, appearances on some 30 albums, and stints with the likes of Acoustic Alchemy, Greg Kihn Band, Maria Muldaur, Billy Preston, and bluesman/comedian Dan Aykroyd.
