There are multiple access points to the vast trail system that makes up the former Fort Ord military base—and none of them are bad. From single track in coastal chaparral and oak groves to dirt and paved roads that intersect the rehabilitating landscape, there’s terrain for both newbies and advanced cyclists. With the Monterey Down mega-development proposal now dead, a large swath of this vast landscape is protected for bicycle enthusiasts of all levels—for now.
