Every Tuesday, starting at 4pm, downtown Monterey becomes a bazaar of fresh produce, diverse street foods and artisanal goods like homemade soap and candles. But this market’s charm isn’t rooted in things you can buy. It’s the interactions with a friend (and their adorable puppy) you bump into at the peach stand, or the man playing records on an old phonograph on “Free Speech” corner, that are as much a reason to come as the deals on organic kale.
