Rock Scully: A Celebration of Life

Jan. 10, 2015, Museum of Monterey

As the Grateful Dead’s manager from 1965-85, Rock Scully was integral to the outfit’s formative years. He lived out his later life in Monterey, until his passing in December 2014. The sold-out celebration featured live music from Mike Beck, Great American Taxi’s Jim Lewin, New Riders of the Purple Sage’s Bill Laymon, Big Brother and the Holding Company’s Barry “the Fish” Melton and Peter Albin and others. Additionally, California State Senate Majority Leader Bill Monning presented a state resolution to Scully’s family, and U.S. Rep. Sam Farr - who attended Carmel High School with Scully - delivered some kind words.
