The Henry Miller Memorial Library is known for summer events when you can catch a band on the lawn or watch a film under a scatter of stars. But the far more intimate interior of the library could not be comfier when acts perform during the winter months. The audience is able to sit a breath away from the performers as a woodstove fire radiates heat and the library’s resident feline (Theo) mingles with the crowd and performers. The atmosphere is so welcoming that at a recent show, Howe Gelb of the great indie band Giant Sand felt comfortable enough to share some works in progress, allowing the small gathering of fans in on his unique songwriting process.
