Strawberries
There are few pleasures so pure as taking a bite of a ripe strawberry, one where you can smell the sweetness before tasting it. That’s perhaps why strawberries are in ever higher demand worldwide, and why they’re a cash cow for local farmers: In the county’s most recent crop report, which summarizes crop values for 2014, the local strawberry crop was valued at a staggering $709 million for the year. For strawberry farmers, they probably taste even sweeter.
