Fire moves fast, but so do firefighters – and passionate locals. The Pfeiffer Fire devastated a stunning swath of Big Sur’s coastline and drew hundreds of firefighters from all over the state within hours of the blaze. Just as fast, Monterey County residents started looking for ways to help, turning to crowdsourcing tools and tangible goods like clothing and canned food. Amid the chaos, the Coast Property Owners Association emerged as a reliable information source, and a credible voice asking for a simple resource: cash. One-hundred percent of gifts go to helping people rebuild. As of press time, CPOA had raised $496,000 and counting. And if you still want to donate, it’s not too late to give.
