We’re trying to figure out why the Mission Ranch was voted the Best Bar for Folks Over 50? Is it because Meals on Wheels does not have a liquor license? Or because the Mission is only nine blocks from downtown Carmel… not too long a walk for those half-plus centurions? Is it because those of us slightly older can nod off counting actual live sheep as they graze nearby? Or is it because the steps into the bar are safety coded and UL approved for those with newly replaced hip and knee joints? The truth is, it’s their rocking drink menu that ranges from old-style Bond martinis to old fashioned Old Fashions. Oh, who are we kidding? The Mission is perfect for anyone of legal drinking age and mind. Make your day, you 50-plus punks, and head to Clint’s Mission Ranch. Be sure to ask about their AARP discount. They don’t have one. But perhaps it will get a laugh.
