“Our mission is to inspire and empower the youth of Monterey County to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive and successful citizens.” That’s a big mission statement. They do it by being affordable: Membership costs $25 and it’s open to kids 6-18. They do it by being big: There are more than 4,800 youth members in both locations (which translates to 1,000-1,200 daily attendees). They do it with teamwork: More than 20 community partners and 400 volunteers offer programs. They do it by being good: 45 years of countless awards and endorsements, including this readers’ vote.
