Bixby Bridge
Highway 1 at Bixby Creek, Big Sur
When the Great Depression brought America to its knees, we stood up and built, creating the iconic structures that would redefine our landscapes, our image of ourselves – the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, the U.S. Supreme Court, Bixby Bridge. Completed in 1932, Bixby introduced the world to Big Sur’s coast, and the world hasn’t been the same since, with visitors arriving each year in ever-increasing numbers. Bixby is far more than a beautifully-designed span of concrete – it’s a sculpture, standing arms out, connecting us to everything we need.
