Maybe you’ve heard the variation on an old axiom that’s making its way around the world: “Variety is the spice of life—and key to killer coffee at Acme.” The small-batch operation carries six regular coffee blends and four seasonal single-origin coffees from around the world. Roaster and co-owner Larry Thurman makes a point to know the source and the farms of all his coffee and—if you get a coffee in the morning—the toasty smell of Thurman and his friendly crew roasting on-site adds to the already irresistible aroma of the drip bar coffee in the cup. On the espresso side of things, Acme Coffee Roasting Co. has a Motor City espresso—a medium color and smooth balance—and a rotating single-origin espresso, which is currently from Bolivia, two divergent paths to the same blissful caffeinated comfort.
