The late, great comic Mitch Hedberg understood club sandwiches. “I order club sandwiches all the time and I’m not even a member. I don’t know how I get away with it.” The best club to be in has set up in New Monterey, where the newly-relocated smokehouse brings house-smoked bacon (wow), house-smoked ham and house-smoked turkey to one sandwich, along with avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion. To eat it definitely feels like you’re getting away with something.
