This company is summed up in one word: family. A fishing family opened the first Sea Harvest in Monterey in 1982, later adding a kitchen. Now there are three independently owned market/restaurants, which the owners compare to siblings: each a little different, but with a shared passion for fresh seafood and personalized service. The inventory varies, and that’s a sign of freshness; what’s on ice depends on what the fishermen have been catching. Connoisseur’s tip: Ask what was caught locally and buy it, even if it’s a fish you’ve never tried. That’s Monterey Bay seafood at its best.
