Gallery Sur
Sixth between Dolores and Lincoln, Carmel

This gallery is probably best known as the exclusive local dealer for the sensual, warm and weighty stone sculptures of Zimbabwe’s famous Nyanhongo family. Probably less so (except among artists) for its framing business. But it’s apparently arrived in terms of its photography, thanks to the color-saturated work of Gary Geiger, David Gubernick’s moody but pristine landscapes, and the seascapes of a number of others, including the Rothko-like vertical strata of the Big Sur horizon by Winston Boyer. And for a double exposure of Big Sur’s coast, they have a satellite gallery at seaside/cliffside restaurant Rocky Point, with more photos of that breathtaking view on the walls.
