The writer H. L. Mencken once called the martini “the only American invention as perfect as the sonnet.” The folks at Lallapalooza agree—at least in spirit—and have made it their signature cocktail. It’s impossible to go wrong with their always-shaken, never-stirred classic ($9-$12), which is a bargain at $5 during happy hour (4-6pm). But plenty of other exotic options entice: The “spa-tini” ($9) mixes Hendrick’s with Hpnotiq liqueur, mint leaves, cucumbers and limeade, and the “Purple Haze” ($9) mixes a splash of raspberry liqueur with a classic lemon drop.
