In a year that witnessed a sudden decline in theater venues, PacRep held steady. The company comprises two theater spaces—the 297-seat Golden Bough and the 120-seat Circle Theatre—each charged with different but complementary missions. This year, it’s big musicals like Oliver! and Cats! on the Golden Bough, and more cerebral stuff like Moll Flanders at Circle Theatre. With their updated audio/visual capabilities, they’re getting more use out of the Golden Bough by hosting special film screenings in collaboration with digital theatre networks, like Moulin Rouge: The Ballet and Daryl Hall & John Oates from Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. And they almost single-handedly changed the course of renovations at the 100-plus-year-old Forest Theater, where they put on outdoor summer shows, slowing it down in the interest of thoroughness. “We’ve got something for everybody,” is how founder Stephen Moorer writes the script.
