The location alone—perched over the Monterey Bay so guests can enjoy room service in plush robes on a balcony, eliciting envy from the kayakers and sea otters below—would be enough. But not for the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa. No, this overachiever had to throw in a restaurant with an oceanfront outdoor patio, a piano lounge, a fitness center and spa on the top floor with panoramic 270-degree views. Hard to beat that.
