Could it be the 30 annual trips to San Francisco that make the Carmel Foundation the best hangout for seniors? Or is it the popcorn and a movie every Saturday afternoon, guaranteed rides to anywhere, friendly staff or iPad training by good-natured teens? There is no single reason. Instead, members voted for menus that never repeat throughout the month and for genuine caregiver support, just to name a few. “The Carmel Foundation is a forward-thinking organization,” says 10-year member Pam Walter. It’s also one whose mission of neighborliness is celebrating 65 years, and therefore eligible for social security.
