When Myra and Drew Goodman planted a 2.5-acre raspberry farm back in 1984, they set the roots of a farming empire that would reach more than 50,000 acres. In late 2013 they and their partners cinched a $600 million sale to WhiteWave and positioned their products as staples in households nationwide. By sprouting from mom-and-pop to goliath, the company gave organics a new clout in the global marketplace and made Monterey County proud. At EBF’s homespun Farm Stand on the side of Carmel Valley road, a kids’ teepee still stands among the herb gardens and raspberry vines.
