Bixby Bridge

Highway 1 at Bixby Creek, Big Sur

Coming around the bend just past Castle Rock, it sweeps into view: An arching, 320-foot-long span that soars across a Big Sur canyon and straight into our hearts. It is Bixby. Built for less than $200,000 in the early 1930s, Bixby is our masterpiece, a bridge whose function is to connect Big Sur with the world, and whose elegant form helps inspire the world to fall in love with the South Coast.
