Gallery Sur hosts Tales Told By Ancient Light, a mixed media presentation on the beauty of the cosmosthrough astrophotographer Gary Lopez’s fine art and Jewel Arianna’s songs, inspired by those images. Jewel Arianna is not only a singer/songwriter, but also a follow astrophysicist. While Lopez uses the ancient light of the night sky to create elegant images that tell the stories of the galaxy, Arianna’s lyrics reflect a human perspective on the cosmic patterns. A ticketed event takes place at 4:30pm on Friday, Aug. 8 (via casicalifornia.org). On the following day, Saturday, Aug. 9 at 5pm, a free version of the program is offered to all. The gallery is at 6th between Dolores and Lincoln, Carmel.
