Painter Elizabeth Barlow grew up in Salt Lake City, a daughter of artist Philip Barlow. Once a portrait painter, upon her move to Carmel in 2016, Barlow discovered nature as a subject matter for her portraits (read: still life). Flowers are at the very center of her artistic attention. On June 26, the artist’s most recent large-scale painting was installed in the nave of All Saints’ Episcopal Church to commemorate its 75th anniversary. This 8-by-5-foot piece explores the symbolic nature of flowers, depicting white calla lilies and trumpet-shaped perennials. The church is located at Dolores and 9th, Carmel.
