CCAA AT THE AIRPORT
Central Coast Art Association President Lori Thompson has been selected by the Monterey Regional Airport to be the curator for its six showcases upstairs in the mezzanine gallery, outside of Woody’s. The work will be on display through Dec. 31. “CCAA’s members, through their artwork, will be the voice of the Central Coast,” Thompson says. “World travelers will be spellbound by the paintings in these showcases.” The themes are historic Monterey County, coastal beauty, spectacular wildlife and more. The public is invited to a reception 5-7pm Thursday, March 7 at the Monterey Regional Airport. [AP]
RENÉ ROMERO SCHULER
René Romero Schuler’s Woman is coming to the Marjorie Evans Gallery at Sunset Cultural Center for a two-month-long exhibit corresponding with International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, and also Sunset Center’s Women’s Week (March 6-9; see more on p. 18). Through her creations, Schuler not only captures the resilience and strength inherent in the female experience but also serves as a visual chronicler of the often untold stories of women. In each stroke and canvas, Schuler aims to amplify the voices of women, contributing to a broader dialogue that seeks to redefine and celebrate the profound impact of women on human history. The show is on display until April 28. [AP]
