LOLA ÁLVAREZ BRAVO
“Frida Kahlo With Dogs” is the title of the photo by Lola Álvarez Bravo presented by Oficino Uno Private Fine Art Photography, a Carmel gallery that just celebrated its 12th anniversary. Their collection boasts over 100 black-and-white photography pieces from artists such as Edward Weston, Brett Weston, Ansel Adams, Roman Loranc, Imogen Cunningham, Ruth Bernhard, Yousuf Karsh, Bert Stern and more. Álvarez Bravo was a Mexican photographer (1903-1993) and a key figure in the post-revolution Mexican renaissance. Oficino Uno has more such treasures to offer. [AP]

The Carmel Art Association is coming back with its annual For the Love of Art exhibit that features 80 local art students from Pacific Grove to Greenfield. It’s a nice chance for young artists to get an exhibit experience (showing drawing, sculpture, paintings and more). The piece above is titled “Go With Me,” an oil painting by Guo Chen. It’s on display throughout the month of love (February) – the pieces are bright, happy and hopeful – until March 4. Come to celebrate a loving tradition. [AP]
