Birds in the Landscape is a fundraiser art show featuring eight original paintings by Carmel Valley-based artist Morgan Lewis, also known as Ripple in the Wild. Lewis, originally from Palo Alto, is moved by the natural history of California and creates place-based art. The paintings explore the dynamic between birds and local coastal habitats; 40 percent of the profits from sales will support Monterey Audubon Society. “Birds themselves change the shape of the landscape, not only in their ecological interactions but also in the way they change our view of the landscape,” Lewis wrote. “Their colors, shapes and movements become a part of the place, a feature of the land.” The show is at The Ship’s Store, 7501 Sandholdt Road, Moss Landing and an opening reception takes place at 4:30-6:30pm Saturday, Aug. 29. On display until Oct. 11. Regular store hours are 10am-4pm daily.
