If you need a refresh to clear your head as the calendar page turns to 2026, consider drinking your vegetables. You could spend the time scrubbing, roasting and peeling a beet – or you can watch the folks at Wow! Juices and Shakes, located in the Harden Ranch Plaza shopping center, make quick work of raw beets in their juicer. They yield a vibrant crimson drink that you can sweeten with any combination of fruits.
They add no water or sugar – these are straight from produce to cup, all made to order. Suggested blends have clever names. The Beetamine, for example, includes beets, of course, plus celery, pineapple and orange; the blood-red Dracula is a little brighter with beets, carrots, celery, ginger, lemon and cucumber. Ginger adds a zing to many drinks, including the most-ordered item, The Greenie (parsley, kale, orange, cucumber, apple, celery, lemon and ginger).
Some drink names make arguable health claims. The Fat Killer (orange, grapefruit, nopal, pineapple, lemon) has not been subjected to a scientific study, as far as we know. To that end, health officials generally recommend that the benefits of consuming whole fruits and vegetables come from exactly that, eating them instead of drinking their juice. But Wow! is flavorful in menu and in vibe, with a small but colorful and inviting space. There is also a food menu of wraps, tortas, acai bowls, deli sandwiches and dessert options – shaved ice raspados, mangonadas and fruit milkshakes.
