A 23-year-old assistant Junior Varsity wrestling coach at Salinas High School was arrested Saturday night for allegedly engaging in lewd acts with a young girl inside a car.

According to a press release from the Salinas Police Department, on March 12 at 6:30pm, officers arrived to Woodside Drive and Greenwood Place in Salinas to reports of a suspicious vehicle. Officers found Adolfo Castillo and a girl inside the car engaging in inappropriate conduct.

Castillo was arrested and taken to the Salinas Police Department where it was revealed he is a coach at Salinas High, as well as a volunteer wrestling coach at Washington Middle School.

Salinas police say it is still an active investigation and they will not release more information regarding the incident at this time.

This is not the first authority figure from the high school to be arrested for alleged sex crimes with minors. In 2012, former drug and alcohol counselor Gilbert Olivares pleaded no contest to sex abuse after he was caught filming students having sex in his school office.

Salinas Union High School District administrators declined to comment.
