Over 21,000 PG&E customers were without power just after 3pm on Wednesday, May 7, after a car hit a transmission pole near the corner of Los Coches Avenue and Natividad Road, according to a PG&E spokesperson.
Crews were on the scene to assess the damage. As of 4:30pm, the PG&E outage map was showing a restoration time of 5:45pm.
The pole carried a transmission line that provides power to customers in Salinas and elsewhere in the county. The outage map showed parts of Carmel Valley and Big Sur were also out.
