An unidentified man is in critical condition after somebody shot him in Salinas late at night on Sunday, Oct. 18.
The police were first alerted to the gunshots by Shot Spotter at about 11pm on the 600 block of Fremont Street, according to a Salinas Police Department statement. The victim later came into the hospital themselves, where they were still in critical condition as of the morning of Monday, Oct. 19, says Rosemerry Dere, a spokesperson for the Salinas Police Department.
According to Dere, the police are still unsure whether the shooter and the victim knew each other. No suspects are in custody, Dere says.
