There's a new fugitive list out in Monterey County, showing names, headshots and the city each suspect was last seen in.
What's unique about this list is that the people aren't on the run from getting caught for a violent crime. Collectively they owe hundreds of thousands of dollars in uncollected child support payments.
"Paying court-ordered child support is among the most basic and important responsibilities of a non-custodial parent," according to the Monterey County Department of Social Services announcement with the most-wanted list.
Parents who fail to pay child support may face jail time for charges of failure to provide and contempt of court.
The list is below, and available online. If you have seen these individuals, you're encouraged to report them to an anonymous tip line: (855) 852-8989 or email mcdcss@co.monterey.ca.us.
