After a sewer malfunction and issues with fire sprinklers shut down the County of Monterey Government Center, it will reopen at 8am Tuesday, Sept. 22 in time for the Board of Supervisors meeting.
The nearly 3-week long shutdown was the result of a sewer malfunction in the first-floor employee bathroom, according to County of Monterey spokesperson Nick Pasculli.
County officials moved many services either online or to neighboring buildings. The closure was then prolonged by the discovery of a leak in the fire sprinkler system.
The board meeting, which will cover a $1.7 million contract between the County of Monterey Sheriff's Office to maintain 63 Flock cameras, is set to take place in the Board Chambers in the 168 W. Alisal St. building in Salinas during open session scheduled for 1:30pm.
Earlier in the day during the 10:30am session, the board is expected to extend the proclamation of a local emergency in response to a the fire at the Moss Landing Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System Power Plant, as well as receive an update on the latest incident.
The board is also scheduled to discuss the establishment of a "No Parking" zone south of the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve entrance along Highway 1.
