Chris Cook, Cal Am's director of operations for the company's Monterey system, which serves the greater Monterey Peninsula, tendered his resignation on Wednesday, Jan. 31, but has not yet left the company.
Cal Am spokesperson Josh Stratton says, "[Cook] says he is going to be moving on."
As to whether the hiring process has started yet, Stratton says Cal Am will be looking at both internal and external candidates, and adds that Cook will stay on to "make sure there’s a transition."
A statement Cal Am sent out Jan. 31 in the hours after his resignation reads: "Chris has made significant contributions to the development of sustainable new water supplies for our community over the last nine years as our manager of engineering and then as director of operations. He has been instrumental in many of our projects, like the 7-mile Monterey Pipeline Project, and we wish him all the best."
Cook did not respond to a request for comment.
