Pebble Beach Food & Wine is synonymous with the finer foods, wines and spirits in life.
Among the chefs participating during the four-day culinary bacchanal are television personalities and James Beard Award winners from across the nation. The wines are from coveted labels, both local and further afield. There are whiskeys that those of modest means can only gaze at from a distance, otherwise.
But it is also a fun event. There is conversation and laughter—especially when Chef Todd Fisher of The Meatery in Seaside serves a duck sausage hot dog with doughnut halves forming the bun.
It's not all about fine dining. There were some of the best chefs in the country grilling burgers. There were pitmasters toiling over barbecue.
What it is about—since Pebble Beach Company Foundation began overseeing the festival a year ago—is a fundraiser for local nonprofits.
