The seemingly impossible has happened.

Carmel-by-the-Sea has added a new bar-and-grill where a restaurant previously stood.

I cannot remember the last time that happened.

Mulligan Public House (626-7822) opened quietly Friday, Dec. 2, on Dolores between Ocean and Seventh.

Hours are 11am until close weekdays (the kitchen closes at 10:30pm, and the place will likely stay open until midnight) and 9am until close Saturday and Sunday.

The official grand opening is Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The full bar includes wines by the glass and 12 draft beers. The current lineup: Newcastle, Guinness, Harp, Deschutes Black Butte Porter, Ratel Cider, Coors Light, Firestone Luponic, Mulligan IPA by Red Hook, 805, Dawn of the Red IRA, Widmer Hefeweizen and Ballast Point IPA.
