An announcement rose from the Weekly's production department as its members were deep into their duty of laying out the first ever Beer Issue and accompanying Monterey County Beer Week Guide.
"Every week is beer week!" shouted design chief Karen Loutzenheiser.
For many beer lovers it certainly is. But still, this is a particularly tasty few days for local beer lovers.
And not just because the issue contained a flood of brew-based reporting that can lead to a range of rich flavors.
It's worth taking another look at some of that coverage here. The pieces of the puzzle included:
• A look at 10 under-the-radar spots in Monterey County for great craft beer, including a Vietnamese restaurant with 18 well-curated taps.
• An exploration of the trends guiding craft beer at the moment, including beer sent into space, Indian pale lagers and super-skunky IPAs.
• A visit to the area's unquestioned homebrew headquarters, Bottoms Up Homebrew Supply in Seaside.
• A tasting through a neglected craft brew crawl in Oldtown Salinas.
The guide itself opened up a number of special offers, tasting events and tap takeovers.

Beer week events run through the weekend, grounded by Saturday's Monterey Beer Festival at Monterey County Fairgrounds.
