The X-Men’s Danger Room is where they train for the different battle scenarios they may encounter. As such, it uses holograms, mechanics, trapdoors, projectiles, flame throwers and technology to re-create whatever training is needed. It is a theater. PacRep’s two theaters employ an array of effects and artistry to re-create the different scenarios they need for their beloved productions, everything from last year’s hit show CATS to Moll Flanders and Disney’s Mulan Jr. And they embarked on a Herculean effort in 2015 to climb out of 2014’s $100,000 deficit caused by the Forest Theater’s closure, which put them in a position to start Phase 2 of their renovations—the lobby, auditorium and restrooms—as well as bring back the dramas and Shakespeare of previous salad years. They’re getting The Wizard of Oz ready for the Forest Theater’s summer reopening, ramping up a Twelfth Night that commemorates Carmel’s 100th birthday, and gearing up musicals galore.
