Idyllic landscapes by Carmel Valley painter Richard Tette are incredibly elegant portraits of rural life. Subdued tones bring stillness to his houses, barns, rivers, brushes and wetlands. The above piece, “Moonlight Hills,” is representative of his other works, with the full moon—a motif that repeats—ruling over the night. Tette, Gerard Martin, Howard Perkins, Stan Robbins and Timothy Sloan come together for Friends, a group show at the Carmel Art Association, celebrating the beauty of the natural world through the eyes of five painters with their own distinct styles. The show is united by a shared love of light, color and painting from observation. A reception takes place at 4-7pm Saturday, June 13. On display until July 6 at CAA, on Dolores between 5th and 6th, Carmel. Open daily from 10am-5pm.
