The Schnitzel Sandwich

If you are planning on Mecca’s schnitzel sandwich for lunch, call in the morning to have one put aside – they’re usually sold out of the housemade pork cutlets by 1pm. After one bite, you’ll understand why: It begins with a warm French roll, flakey on the outside and soft-pillowy on the inside. Some mustard and mayo slathered on both sides of the bread, thinly sliced snap-happy pickles and the hammer-pounded meat star of the show. The thin slabs of tenderized pork are expertly seasoned and fried to the perfect amount of outer crunch. How do you say “let’s eat” in German anyway?
